    1. She called human resources because Novgorod wasn’t in russia. It was independent republic with its own culture and language up until 1478 when it was annexed by Moscow and then whole city was slaughtered in 1570 by ivan terrible

    2. Well Novgorod still exists in the world of Trench Crusade. So hey, at least some more people will hear about it.

    3. Physically located in modern Russia? Yes. 

      Culturally *in medieval Russia*? LMFAO no. Novgorod was very much its own distinct culture, separate from medieval Russia. I saw Russian academics debate over whether it was even really a *Slavic* culture, or should be seen as something more unto its own because of how much Hanseatic influence and exchange they experienced.l (granted , this was nearly 20 years ago, I’m sure it would be less… Spirited a debate now a days). 

    4. I have never heard anyone say anything negative about Novgorod and heard people mentioned it positively multiple times so this seems like a miss use of this meme template.
