They improved more than ny and cal but they still have a long way to go and are still behind cal and ny

The data analysis and reading comprehension used to make this meme are exactly what I would expect from Alabama.

Huntsville is in Alabama… For those not keeping track, this is an intellectual hub serving many industries and rapidly growing. It’ll continue to rise no doubt as more educated people follow those jobs into the state and alter the fabric of society down there.

    5. University of Alabama has leading robotics competitions for a decade.

Don’t mistake having a hot cousin for a lack of intelligence

Hey! I’m a hillbilly from the Appalachian mountains of NE Alabama, and back in the early ’90s Tonie Niblett taught me Calculus. The best math teacher to ever walk the face of the earth. And now I’m in my 50s working on a Masters of Science Computer Science with a Specialization in AI at Georgia Tech. We can math in Alabama. 😆 People used to joke about people from the area getting engineering jobs with TVA by saying “Four years ago I couldn’t spell engineer, but now I are one.”

    8. Is this because they got back the results and it said they were in the top 95%?

As someone from Alabama, my favorite math problem was: 1 brother + 1 sister = 1 messed up baby

In fairness the 7 kids who go to school in alabma are the smartest in the state

    11. Based on what data? What testing? Is everyone taking the same test? Or is this like most red states where they lower the standard and quality of education then point to how great they’re doing? Feels like the latter.

You used AI to make this and don’t understand they have improved the most but the scores are not higher than thise ststes

Turns out you can actually afford to study when you aren’t paying $3,000 a month for a cardboard box in Brooklyn.

    14. I like make an Alabama joke but I don’t know how to relate it to this

    15. People from Alabama finally stop sleeping with their siblings for one second, and this is what they put their attention to.

One thing to understand about Alabama is that there are plenty of super high achieving schools, especially public schools in North Alabama. Most schools in our area are putting out a dozen or more 32+ ACT kids a year. Multi million dollar academic facilities.

The problem is that schools are funded a ton through property tax. So the affluent and wealth areas near Huntsville get nicer homes, higher property taxes. The poorer areas in the black belt don’t have the job availability, thus they have cheaper houses and properties which lead to lower property taxes, which lead to worse schools, which leads to companies not wanting to build there because of their poverty school system and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy

huh. has Alabama risen? or has Cali and New York fallen??

“looks at the news” fallen… definitely fallen…

Australian here, why are Americans competing over which state is failing its children the most? Is this a cultural thing?

    20. ClydeStyle on

      Thanks Bush!

For context he passed the legislation NCLB which makes it almost impossible to hold any child back.

      Peter here:

The joke is funny because the Alabamanites are bad at math and – hence – do not realize that their smaller numbers are actually lower than those of the Californians and New Yorkers

But they got rid of the Department of Education so going to school and learning is no longer required by the government, all the deep south rednecks are willing to learn now because there’s not somebody telling them to do it…
