Bro (to soyjack Pope) Constantinople fell to the Ottomans because there was a crusade that sacked Constantinople and split the Byzantine Empire into little fiefdoms for French nobles.
The Byzantine Empire fell because of the goddamn 4th crusade
Erm, akzhually, the city wasn’t renamed until 1917.
It was still called constantinople(in a turkish way) officially at least.
The general populous called it istanbul which I think meant the city. Just like for example the hre was called The empire.
