      Bro (to soyjack Pope) Constantinople fell to the Ottomans because there was a crusade that sacked Constantinople and split the Byzantine Empire into little fiefdoms for French nobles.

      It was still called constantinople(in a turkish way) officially at least.

      The general populous called it istanbul which I think meant the city. Just like for example the hre was called The empire.
