Charles Dickens (1812–1870) likely drafted part of his novel Hard Times (1854) while seated in this cane-bottom chair, and he may have written chapters of Great Expectations (1860–1861) at this small mahogany writing desk while bathed in the light of this oil lamp [960×1280]

I like that he had a raked writing-desk. They really are quite nice to use when needing to write a lot by hand.

Additionally, I wonder whether he was left handed, because the space where an inkpot would go appears to be on the left side of this desk. I imagine it would be on the right if he were needing to dip a pen with his right hand.
