I stumbled across this old newspaper article last week. It says someone was testing a manned flying machine over California cities at night. For reference 1896 was 7 years before the Wright brothers first successful flight in 1903.
I wonder why the inventor never took credit for it, or if he did. And what happened to this machine whatever it was? How might it have worked?
