Is this guy somehow related to Disco Elysium narrative speaker?I closed my eyes and felt like game chapter

    2. “It expects the doubt. It waits for you on the other side of it. Do not judge the gravy by its face.”

      I needed that.

Kept hearing for decades about how other people think our food is trash now they get to embrace the comfort and warmth that comes from immigrants just getting to go hog wild with dishes. The old country is gone, welcome to America

This is oddly beautiful lmao. And yeah biscuits and gravy are absolutely amazing.

Why is this filmed like an old man that doesn’t realize they’ve flipped the camera to selfie mode?

Biscuits and gravy truly is one of the most unappetizing looking dishes, while also being the thing I will always order because it’s amazing.

That was beautiful, I’ve literally been moved to tears by poetry about ugly food.

As a fan of biscuits and gravy I must say this pure gospel 🙌 🙏 😌

It’s all good, dude, the first time eating Biscuits and Gravy is magical for most. Looks may be deceiving!

    10. Biscuits and Gravy has a unique attribute that few foods possess: the worse it looks, the better it is.

    11. In Atlanta is a funky diner called Home grown. There is always a line, but if you go alone you can typically snag a counter spot faster.

The menu is deep, with typical diner breakfast items, lunch items, and they even have daily specials that always sound so enticing.

But every time I go, I get the Comfy Chicken Biscuit: a fresh, open faced biscuit, topped with perfectly fried chicken tenders, both of which are covered in a decadent white sausage gravy. Each bite is a moment of pure, culinary bliss, as all three elements are amazing, but you attempt to get that ultimate bite with the perfect amount of all 3. Those in the know also order the home fries with peppers and onions, which add new textures and flavors to the experience.

It is also a huge amount of food, and I always take enough home for breakfast the next morning.

This sounds like a Bill Bryson book. I demand to know what this is from!

ETA: purportedly it is from a man visiting from Japan on X as @japan_nobunaga

    13. This is amazing without sound.

I was able to theorize many possible accents, each one a better for than the last.

    14. Christ above your narration was a journey. I was ***raised*** by southerners, your experience was nothing new to me. But your choice of words? Your eloquence? The energy you put into describing biscuits and gravy?
Sir your video walks the knifes edge of a meme and pure art.

I can relate to this. Tried it when I visited the US a few years ago from the UK

Looked gray and gross. Like British food even I would avoid. Tasted pretty good though. Had it almost every morning for a week.

After he said that he orders it every week, I thought there’d be a line about him now weighing 400 stone.

    17. I had this exact conversation with a Dutch person. He was asking for American food recommendations. Biscuits and gravy is delicious. It is truly amazing because you don’t want to eat the first bite, but then don’t want stop.

    18. I love this so much. As a yankee married into the south, this spoke to my soul.

    19. This was so fire dude. Jesus christ. The writing is impeccable and the delivery is the deepest peer into the human soul I’ve had in a while

    20. I love hearing all the people coming into the country and being absolutely blown away by our food. It is delicious, is it beautiful? Not all the time no, but it will damn well make you feel good when you eat it.

    21. I feel like this is a voiceover plucked from disco elysium. You could have a very successful career as a voice actor, and may be a poet.

Funny thing is, I would go with my older brother and dad to Hardee’s every weekend, because my dad would meet up with an elderly couple who were always there.

They would always order biscuits and gravy and I would order the cinnamon raisin biscuits, or Roy Rogers chicken when Hardee’s still sold it if we stayed until lunch.

I always thought the biscuits and gravy looked so gross.

I finally tried it when I was in my early 20s.

My reaction was much like this man’s, but not nearly as poetic.

This is very much like ‘Werner Herzog orders biscuits and gravy’ and then describes his experience.
