    1. To be fair its not Valves fault, they are having to respond to the fuckery thats been cause by AI. I think they have given up trying to absorb cost increases and have passed them all off to the customer. The Steam Deck is quite old now so probably doesnt make much sense to take a loss on it anymore.

Fuck AI and fuck Sam Altman

My guy have you SEEN what’s happening to the PC market? Literally every single tech and tech adjacent company is fighting for everything from RAM to storage. It’s absolutely bedlamatm, everything costs a fortune and it’s driving retailers completely out of business, consumers are completely priced out of the market and every wafer of silicon that wasn’t guaranteed in a contract written half a decade ago is going staight into AI datacentres.

It’s frustrating, sure, but it’s not steam’s fault.

They’ve got a big piggy bank. They can wait it out. If you’re an enthusiast, and have the $$$, go for it. Otherwise just hold off for now, when (and I do mean WHEN, this merry go round of mickey mouse reinvestement of debt cannot go on forever) the bubble pops, the market will eventually get itself back under control.

I blame the big three memory manufacturers. I’m looking at you Micron, Samsung, and SK Hynix. You knew you were betraying every consumer in the world to chase those HBM AI dollars.
