    1. Context:

The Jews were expelled along with Libya’s Italian population in 1970 as part of his anti-zionist/-imperialist campaign (and y’know, anti-semitism)

The Palestinians however were expelled in protest of the Oslo Accords and the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli normalisation, which he felt betrayed the Palestinian cause, so in an attempt to expose the peace agreement as a sham, he declared that since Palestinians now had their own homeland, they should leave Libya and return there. They weren’t, in fact, allowed entry into Plaestinian territories, thus most remained in Egypt, so I guess it ended up kind of proving his point (although at the cost of 5500 or so people)

Now that Assad is gone, is the Arab cold war finally over? Not sure if I’m forgetting someone.

    4. Most Jews allready left before mummer gaddafi became president. In 1969-1970(when he ascended to power) there was only around 100 Jews left, since most of them left by 1967

Ironically, Gaddafi himself was technically Jewish if we go by matrilinial law.
