    1. The two men picture married sisters, so I don’t know if that is really a “brother-in-law” but was the best description I had. Both my grandmother and her sister actually wore the same wedding dress due to wartime material shortages

      Taken probably in August or September 1945. My grandfather was a field artillery officer in Europe who shipped back to the US in July 1945 to train for redeployment to the Pacific. Got married during a two week leave and reported back for duty around the time of the Hiroshima bombing.

      Great uncle Ray served in the 6th Armored and was wounded twice in action as shown by the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf cluster he is wearing (far left ribbon)

    3. I’m not familiar with the uniform of the time, would it have been usual to not have rank displayed?
