Modern toys: “have voice recognition to execute a command instead of a button”

How social media marketers think we’ll react:

Dumb question…but is Soundwave a boom box before he transform? 😅

This guy proves that happiness is attainable but not in the societal norms.

His reactions are completely faked. The whole post seems like an advert with some cheesy bot comments thrown in as well.

    5. What in the generative AI is that title? Trying to understand it gave me an aneurysm

    6. HappyToSeeeYou on

Is this AI? I feel like the guy is making the weirdest facial expressions during the transformations

This looks like it’s made with AI. Unless there’s a source to the original video with links to the toys, this video just smells AI bullshit.

Bro, half the fun is in transforming them, holding the thing and physically manipulating the parts. The other half is smashing them together in epic battles, then popping the limbs back on afterwards. You can’t do either with this junk, only look and yell at it. (And apparently nervously prepare to catch it if it starts to tip over mid-change)

This is depressing as fuck. If a kid can’t play with them, these aren’t toys. They’re more like mobile figurines

    9. PurpleZombi3 on

You can’t really play with these toys, they’re like 1500 dollars a pop. If they get damaged your parents suffer a nervous breakdown and wander off into the woods for 15 years, living amongst bears and forgetting all about the concept of money.

    10. All i see is fake reaction either for an ad or buyers remorse.

These things are nearly 1k$ and they are not worth it at all. They’re cool for about an hour but that novelty wears off fast when you realize they are really basic

Two weeks later, they’ll be in a cabinet with his collection of static Gundam models and Transformer toys. Only when a new product release is out, getting yet another free one to review will they move again.

    12. What the Fuck is all of this negativity in the comments?!

I’m an avid Transformers Collector, and these things are simply awesome!

The… they transform in their own so “half of the fun is lost” and “they’re glorified paperweights” thing is just so simple minded!

Obviously these aren’t the things that you give to little Timmy (5) to mash in the Sandpit, but rather for Thomas (44) who always dreamt of seeing a Transformers transform on their own!

These are collectors items that are meant to be center pieces if collections, and not everyday use either.

They non the less have their astronomical ~1500$ pricetags, but for that you get a fully functional programmable robot that Transforms!

It’s certainly a niche thing, and having all of them is obviously a Flex, but let the guy have their fun!

This is very impressive from an engineering standpoint, but I don’t really see the point past that. Transformers toys were always cool because they had that puzzle element to them. If you’re not the one transforming them, where’s the fun?

    14. It’s not “modernizing the toy industry”. These are enthusiasts’ figures that cost hundreds of dollars, not really a toy you buy for a kid.

    15. PuffyBlueClouds on

Because nothing’s more fun than a toy that you sit and watch instead of play with.
