The remote has very little power draw. Only really used when buttons are pressed. Powers the infrared light and very simple processor.

    2. I use to say the world runs on AA batteries. Not so much anymore. Everything is run on rechargeable lithium batteries these days. All three of my Roku remotes are rechargeable. My dog has a tracker collar that’s rechargeable. My watches are eco-drives. The good on that is less waste from old batteries. The bad is when the batteries go bad it’s hard to replace them.

    3. And also the batteries both go the same way, which is also mildly interesting.

You can tell what kind of batteries they are because of how they are.

the non-infrared remotes dont sleep, if you plug the roku stick into the wall, and are dead in a week

Reminds me of my Nintendo DS batteries

All on their original batteries and still last insanely long

That is so weird and cool! Also don’t do this as the risk of leaking is super high. But that’s still interesting!

That’s cool. I don’t know if certain models are more power hungry because my 4k express one, batteries feel like they barely last a few weeks.

Pro tip here: use non-alkaline batteries in devices that don’t use a lot of power to do their tasks. Like clocks, remotes, etc. they’ll last a lot longer.
