I used to join white nationalist discords to argue with their perspectives. Honestly it was kinda fun, they are exactly as dumb as you think they would be. There was no consistency to their arguments and often times the measures they wanted enacted would directly harm themselves.

Those pricks can go to an Africanist conference and hear about all kinds of interesting shit, from gendered workforces to urbanism contradictions to intellectual history within the continent, with research advanced by energetic kids from all over the continent, and see if their entire world view doesn’t shrivel like a leaf in a fire.
I went to one and heard two guys trying to reconcile one dude’s research into national development strategies and their international presentation vs their actual on-the-ground implementation and another’s research into moves to control danfo transit in Nigeria and how poorly it proceeds.
You know who couldnt keep up with that shit? Probably your average, off-the-shelf racist.

It aint about them. It’s about everybody else who is going to see those messages and if nobody pushes back, they’re going to conclude the racist must be right.
For me, it was just fulfilling a need to show that folks dont condone that racist bs. A lot of the time, I would be the first comment to stand up to a bigot before others followed suit. Not that it did anything to change thwir mind, but it shows to fence sitters or less combative people that anti-racists are alive and thriving. Hate the idea of a bigot feeling safe out here

When i argue with them, it’s not necessarily to convince them, but to provide an opposing viewpoint for those who might be gullible enough to fall for their nonsense. A common racist tactic is to take a complicated scientific concept that is technically true and misinterpret it in some racist way and act like they aren’t racist but just stating facts. They’ll only talk about it in places where they believe there are no experts who can easily debunk them. [Here’s](https://www.reddit.com/r/whenthe/s/SIAyLttrR3) of mine here on reddit. The guy tried to act all innocent and intelligent, but once I destroyed his viewpoint, his racist colors flew. If I didn’t, you just know some people would’ve started questioning whether the racists have a point
