People should be heavily fined and should be given a hard punishment for shit like this.

Doing this with a laser pointer with an output power above the legal safety limit is assault. That attacker could have easily permanently blinded the player.

I vaguely remember seeing this in the last few months.

Fucking POS person, should be in prison.

I can’t imagine it would be that hard for a few people with powerful cameras in the areas behind the goalie to direct enforcement folks to those with laser pointers and charge them with fairly significant criminal offences.

Doing that a few times as needed should have a pretty chilling effect on the issue I’d think.

My first thought was binoculars, but that has clear safety issues. But cameras would resolve that. There are likely even sensor|chip-based spotting scopes?

    5. Fun fact: In most major leagues (Premier League, Champions League, etc.), usung a laser is a criminal offense, not just a stadium ban. Can be charged with assault if it causes injury. Absolutely deserves a lifetime ban.
