A day after turning 18, Ziyi Yan unleashes a massive 71.74m to move to 2nd on the all-time women’s Javelin list. In 2024, she wasn’t allowed to compete at the Olympics due to World Athletics age restrictions, as well as the 2025 World Championships, despite being one of the best in the world.

This is the first time in my life that I have been genuinely scared of a little girl

      Good for her!

(Gotta be honest, for a second there I was getting some “Revenge of the Nerds” vibes, lol!)

    3. Still wouldn’t beat Lamar’s limp wristed throwing style.

Are they easy to see? Seems reckless having 2 guys chase it down mid flight. Enlighten me reddit gods.

How do those referees ensure that they never get spiked by a javelin?

How much better can she get? Do they need to build new venues before she spears someone in the stands? There’s about to be a whole section closed in future events!

mind blowing power, especially with the age restrictions holding her back. 🏃‍♀️💨

I dont understand the part about “not being allowed to compete due to *age restrictions*”

    9. It’s wild how every time this story has been posted in the last day or so the creator chooses to paint the situation like it was some sort of injustice there is an age requirement. It’s gross.

    10. now if she was part of the crew in Sparta, she would have been a top contender in the spear throws to take out hundreds easy. Good freaking job for keeping it up and just waiting for your age limit to hit, freaking amazing!

That release was amazing! You can kinda see smoke come out the back of the javelin/missile.
