To be fair, sometimes “F historical accuracy we ball” can be fun.

To be fair, the Lord of the Rings was historically very accurate.

Hollywood should called them “Historical Fantasy” or “History themed.”

1. It’s a movie, just learn to shut your brain off a moment.
2. A lot of interesting historical stories have parts in it that are really boring/have no tension.

Do we want historically accurate movies where we watch people from medieval times to WW2 walking to the battles? Like do we need to be accurate to those timelines as well? 2 months to arrive at the battle site, unabridged and in it’s entirety?
Also, I feel like this is about The Odyssey and none of that is really historically accurate as much as fan fiction. People are just fine with 5 iterations of Batman and Superman that all pick and choose what lore to incorporate but God forbid we do that with historical stories that actually didn’t happen at all?

This but replace “Hollywood” with r/HistoryMemes

That’s because taking things from reality and putting them into a movie one for one wouldn’t make for good storytelling most of the time.
Guys if you want 100% true to history, watch a documentary, not a movie. Movies are for entertainment and storytelling.

Then you have movies like too hell and back and hacksaw ridge where they have to tone things down to make them believable

Watch documentaries if you want actual history. Stop being a pedant.

And people just kind of assume it’s historically accurate
Like with mel gibsons The Patriot . People would probably think they are smart to know that the main character is not likely a historical figure. But they would assume the rest of the movie is accurate. For no real reason

Those two things are not mutually exclusive.
