France did have the 4th strongest military by 1940 but is that they did not expect something called blitzkrieg and the German going through the Ardennes

Corsica was a french territory when Napoléon was born. And if such a thing as natal tongue or accent disqalify you as french then a good 40% of the french population aren’t actually french, including all the parisians.

She didn’t lead the army Joan of Arc was a propaganda piece she didn’t lead battle she wasn’t fighting on the front; the we cannot ever doubt French chivalry.

Don’t forget that the Nazis carried the same railway carriage in which the Germans signed their surrender in World War I to Paris and made France sign its surrender in that very same carriage.
The pettiness

One time France got rolled and after that they could not wash away the public humiliation from their nation. Doesn’t France have one of the best win rates in history?

everytime someone makes fun of the french in WW2, one french soldier who died in Dunkirk, rises from the dead, combat ready

Not sure the first panel is reflective of the French experience of WW1.

Is the Franco-Prussian war largely forgotten?

Anything that makes light of French efforts in WW1 is bad taste. More than a million Frenchmen gave their lives for La Patrie on the west bank of the Rhine. Thats more than every single American loss since 1776, including the civil war.
Say what you want about their leadership, and there’s a lot to be said about the leadership of all nations in that war, but the soldiers were absolute lions.

Italians so mad at their military history after the fall of Rome they say Napoleon was Italian
