    1. The more specific the rule, the more unbelievable the story behind it. 😆

      More like mildly infuriating.

Live by whatever rules you want, but don’t expect me to be ruled by your ridiculous and arbitrary imaginary friend in the sky.

Respect people’s beliefs. Ik some hindus actual care about their religion. If you want to eat meat or drink go out and eat or eat in your room.

If someone’s bothered by you. Act nicely towards them.

Alcohol is banned in the state of Gujrat for sales and consumption, unless you have a medical license and want to pay insane tax rates on inflated liquor prices (btw the liquor ban is because of Gandhi, he disliked alcohol and Gujrat was his state of birth or whatever) baseless ban, its legal is most to all other states of India

It’s a dry state so there’s no need for first half of the sign unless you are in Gift city. Second half of the sign is mildly infuriating. It’s a hotel, all sorts of people stay at hotel. Why would you make a policy that limit your customer base to only a part of local population?

Interesting: if you look at rental accommodation ads you’ll see more and more “Indian only” stipulations often followed by a list of prohibitions on normal adult behaviour eg vegetarian and no alcohol.

If landlords posted White only or Black only… oh man, the shitstorm that would follow…

I’m a vegetarian who has one or two beers per year.

That sign makes me want to walk in with a hotdog and a beer though.

I remember when my husband and I were staying at a fancy heritage hotel in Varanasi, we were having dinner at their restaurant and the waiter whispered to us that if we wanted, they could serve us this secret, premium bottle of wine, which was prohibited since the hotel was right beside the holy Ganges. I got intrigued and asked him if we could see the bottle and they brought a bottle of Carlo Rossi and I just had to laugh. I don’t remember how much it was, but it was at a ridiculous price too.

    10. lol yeah it’s a prohibition state in India, been like that since the 50’s.

The issue is, now whichever politician would propose the lifting of this ban, it’d be a career ending strat for them.

Btw non-residents and tourists can actually legally purchase alcohol if you get some special permits, it’s basically proof that you are an international tourist.
Two dollar fees and your passport + visa photos

I’d say next time try some non-budget hotels, they serve food not dogma.

Stupid state with stupid rules. Only reason they have relevance is because that insecure knob of a PM favours that shit hole for everything.

That’s the exact place you bring bottle of Henny and a burger and go to town. If y’all down with the scientology runs, get down with this.
