I haven’t watched this season, think I stopped somewhere in season 3, but if this happens when it happens (trying to avoid spoilers) it makes perfect sense for homelander and I don’t understand why people are upset about it.
I stopped watching just because the show became blah and like graphic for just the sake of being graphic and like trying to outdo the previous graphic scenes. Idk just wasn’t for me.
Edit: trying to avoid saying spoilers. It’s been “spoiled” for me, not that I ever intended to go back and finish it.

I felt like this when my grade was in the gutter only due to me arriving to class late, like 5 to 15 minutes late. It was a morning class and the parking situation is notoriously bad for those who commute to the college I went to.
The groveling worked, but looking back, it’s frustrating how I had to deal with that in college. I thought that crap was only in high school.
