When pregnant stingrays are caught by fishermen or accidentally wash ashore, the extreme stress and lack of oxygen often trigger a survival mechanism known as a capture-induced parturition (premature or emergency birth). The mother’s body aborts or expels the pups in a desperate bid to give them a chance at survival, even if she doesn’t make it.

well-meaning onlookers or fishermen often help gently press the mother’s abdomen to help pull the pups out and rush them back into the water to give both the mother and her newborns a fighting chance.

    2. This is an emergency birth.

And instead of leaving the poor thing to get on with it, some plonker had to take her out and make a video. We’ll done asshole!ย

    8. I saw this in another sub. Pushing it back into the water is the right thing to do, right now all those baby ones which aren’t swimming are just gonna die or be eaten on the ocean floor
