Anyone able to explain South Korea? Did Messi join a Boy Band there or something? That’s so fascinating.

Did Ronaldo hate on a KPop song or something? What did he do to piss everyone off?

(legit question as someone who is very very out of the loop)

    2. The average Korean rates Christiano Ronaldo 3.54 out of 7??? Surely that’s like how you’d rate an average pro-football player? What’s going on here?

    3. Four of the five top Ronaldo countries are Muslim majority. Is Ronaldo certified halal or something?

    4. I used to be more pro Messi … but then I realized that both of them are douchebag rich guys avoiding taxes.

    5. UK ranking Messi higher than Ronaldo and France ranking Ronaldo higher than Messi is certainly funny considering where they have played.

(France might just be sore because of the World Cup)

Korean here – Ronaldo lost a lot of respect in Korea after 2019, in which Juventus made a special visit and played a friendly match with K-League (the Korean football league) players. Ronaldo was obviously the star of the show…. at least he was supposed to be.

In the match he refused to play a single second, which went against contracts, because he ‘didn’t feel like playing’ or whatever. Ever since then Ronaldo became known as a narcissistic asshole in Korea. People don’t deny he’s one of the greatest players of all time, but it left a bitter taste in every Korean fan’s mouth.

Funnily enough in the 2022 World Cup, Ronaldo’s abysmally bad performance in the Portugal v. Korea match indirectly helped us get to the round of 16. Since then people have been sarcastically mocking him as ‘he’s an honorary Korean from now on’ or ‘he finally returned the favor’ and the sort.

Since Ronaldo moved to Saudi Arabia, his popularity has surged in the Middle East and Muslim countries.

Of course, Messi’s popularity would have risen in the U.S. after he moved there, but in surveys like this, the U.S. is just one country among many.

    8. Were the people surveyed football fans? A lot of people find Ronaldo attractive, maybe they were voting on that.

On purely football, it’s Messi. Probably the most relevant ranking is Spain, as they both played both of their best years there.

This is quite interesting. I might be looking too much into this but I think it says a lot about views on masculinity in many of these countries

Messi is small, cute and probably autistic

Ronaldo is tall, muscular, confident, extremely handsome and probably a rapist

You may be a fan of CR or Messi or Balotelli or Kaka whoever. But those numbers won’t cancel the fact that Messi is by far far the greatest footballer ever, and maybe the greatest athelete too.
I ve lived in Indonesia Malaysia. Those people, males and females are very insecure about their looks, so when they see handsome/beautiful people, they accept them as superior to themselves. So even my male friends had unhealthy affection (kinda homosexual) towards CR and his looks.
Also, there was pic of CR with Palestine flag and Messi visiting Jerusalem. That also left a huge mark on fanbase.

Again, all this won’t change fact that Messi is bigger in football. It was never a debate! Never.

Now rank the same countries according to women’s rights and sexual assault laws.
