Considered one of the most gifted bodybuilders, Sergio Oliva had an almost cartoonish proportions: 27-8 waist, 59in chest, 22.5in arms, 30in thighs at 5ft 10 & 225 pounds. Photos of his prime in the 1960s-70s

It’s funny that this was considered cartoonish at one point. The guys in the 90s looked ridiculous.

He and Serge Nubret (The Black Panther) are two of my favorite bodybuilders of all time. True icons of the sport. Oliva’s son has been a decent bodybuilder in his own right.
That pool hall photo is one of the images that got me into lifting weights 30 years ago. Epic image.

Hmm, looks like the inspiration for Biscuit Oliver from the anime Baki.

Def one of the greats all time. His genetics were insane. Arnold always gushed over this guy and he didn’t compliment many, especially in his prime.

Imagine insulting this normal-sized-head dude if he was up to his neck in a pool, just to have him stand up and start stomping his way over to you

I met the man many years ago. In an arcade in Chicago of all places. He was past his competitive prime but was still massive. Was a gentleman. Having said that Serge Nubret or Frank Zane are my golden age favorites.

Arnold features him in “The Complete Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding.” Incredible book.

When were steroids invented?

Let me guess, his wife gaining a lot of weight was his main inspiration.

Sergio’s cobra pose is legendary. There’s only one other guy that pulled that off, Lee Priest. Sergio was the only man to beat Arnold on the Mr Olympia stage in sixty nine..the year, not the position. Huge fan of Sergio
