This comes across as Bezos making a threat. It’s the 1% vs the 99%. His opinion is less than meaningless to me.
That’s because our government doesn’t serve its people. Can’t send money to schools, too busy blowing them up and making sure they display the 10 commandments. Fucking disgusting.
In 2015 I paid more taxes as a teacher than Trump paid as a then millionaire. I was not in NY.
I always hear about how these guys are such great business people that you could take all of their money, and they would just start over and get rich again. We should try that experiment. Take the billionaires’ wealth and let them try to make it back again. I would be so impressed if they could. C’mon guys, you can do it!

Per the wisdom of the internet, the tippy toppest tax rate was 94% in 1944. It applied to incomes over $200,000, or $2.5 mil equivalent today. That’s a good start.

Simplify the tax code. Remove all the loopholes. Straight forward taxable income based on the W2, less cost of healthcare. Straight forward taxable income based bands. Capital gains same.
Once you do that, avoiding tax becomes very, very hard.

In a way he’s right, those taxes will go to the military and the politicians. There is a lack of political will to increase fundings in education that no amount of tax revenue will change.
