Three years later Jesse would form a new gang with his brother Frank, taking on two of the Ford brothers, Robert and Charlie. In 1882 Robert would shoot Jesse in the back of the head in exchange for his parole; an arrangement he allegedly made with Missouri governor Thomas Crittenden.
