A goalie and a forward both have the same goal to stop the opposing team from scoring. One is passive defense, the other is aggressive defense.

I read “Desmond Doss” as “Diamond Dogs”.
And I suddenly felt… A sort of… *Phantom Pain*…

From Alvin York’s Wikipedia page:
“York’s Medal of Honor action occurred during the United States-led portion of the Meuse–Argonne offensive in France, in which he intended to breach the Hindenburg line and force the Germans to surrender”
*He* intended? Like by *himself?*

Alvin York sat on a mountain top for 3 days with nothing but a Bible and his clothes, and came down saying he was on a mission from God.
I’m more than inclined to believe him. Especially if “charging a machine gun position to bayonet them” resulted in success.

Why are dead Germans in World War I going to hell?

A 19 year old German conscript being told he is going to hell for the crime of being -flips through notes- a hun bastard.
You may fire when ready men.
(I get it’s a joke, but my time in the infantry did things to my brain I guess idk).

Alvin York is probably the only enlisted level man to earn a Congressional Medal of Honor without also earning a Purple Heart.
He also picked up a WWI & WWII victory medal and also never granted any of his enemies their marksmanship award.
