Pretty much what I pictured. I have no illusions as to where my meat comes from.

I used to live near butcher town in Louisville KY. Everyone said the place smelled like fear, and shit. These pigs are intelligent, and know exactly what is going down. I’m sure death is preferable to this existence.

Massachusetts and California have laws prohibiting breeder pens and out-of-state pork from those pens. But even as we speak, the U.S. Congress is considering a law that forces such states to buy inhumanely produced meat from other states.

One of my first jobs out of college was at a slaughterhouse. I stopped eating meat after that experience.

That’s actually pretty clean, I’ve worked for hog farms, it’s pretty gnarly

Imagine working there. Soaking up all the animal cries 8hrs a day, it’s gotta do something to you before you just become a numb soulless drone.

    8. People see this, pretend to be shocked and appalled, and then continue eating factory meat 😭

    9. Look up the “Save our Bacon Act”, it aims to circumvent all established laws on factory farm conditions, including state laws. They want it to be so cheap that there is no alternative to these horrific conditions. This will be the norm.

What is happening in this picture? I get it is a pig farm and they are packed in but like are they like that all day? Don’t they have to move around some?

Globally, over **90 billion land animals** are slaughtered each year for human consumption. This massive figure translates to roughly 250 million animals killed every single day. If you include marine life and farmed fish, the total estimate easily reaches into the **trillions** annually.

    12. Looks like gestation crates used for breeding pigs. There are **10 states** currently that have bans or phase-outs in place for gestation crates: **Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, Oregon, and Rhode Island.** Additionally, California and Massachusetts prohibit the in-state sale of pork originating from animals kept in these restricted confinement systems.
