Okay, so! informative bit here. you’re supposed to cut the eggs so that if the baby’s egg tooth is underdeveloped, or fell out early, or the egg is too calcified, they don’t drown in there.

But. the guy is actually doing it wrong, probably for the camera. you’re not supposed to pull them out. oftentimes when the eggs get cut, the snake isn’t ready to come out, and that was definitely the case with this one. they need to get to absorb their yolk, and the blood from the vessels in the egg, first, and come out when they’re ready. *what he’s doing harms the snake.*

Bypassing the natural hatching process prevents natural selection to work.

No, he’s basically doing a snake egg opening haul for viewers. It’s irresponsible and bordering on abusive. He also keeps the adult snakes in the equivalent of huge shoeboxes. Just crammed in there with no substrate to burrow in, no bath, no branches to climb or rocks to bask on.
Like keeping a rottweiler in a bathroom and inducing birth early because puppies are good for views .

      2. Aggressive Egg-Cutting Practices
      3. Subpar Housing and “Rack” Enclosures
      4. “Power-Feeding” into Obesity
      5. Ethics of Mass Breeding and Culling

      I would say that’s a scam

    8. NOT a zookeeper!
      This is jay from jayprehistoricpets.
He is known as being problematic and unethical in the reptile keeping world.
He is a millionaire that disregards animal welfare in favor of profit and media.

Great. More that’ll need hunted down and culled when they get too big and people release them in the Everglades

Wouldn’t this make the snakes weaker? Like helping a butterfly out of a cocoon

Really you should just make an incision in the egg and let the baby come out
