    1. **The Incredible Story of Jacob Miller:**

      During the Battle of Chickamauga (September 19, 1863), Union Sergeant Jacob Miller was shot directly between the eyes and left for dead on the battlefield.

      Miraculously, he woke up, evaded enemy lines, and made it to a hospital. Because the bullet was lodged too deep in his skull, doctors couldn’t safely remove it.

      His body spent decades pushing the shrapnel out naturally. A large piece of the bullet dropped out of his forehead in 1880 (17 years later), and another piece fell out in 1894.

      Miller lived with a literal hole in his head for 54 years, eventually dying of old age in 1917 at 87. This photo was taken around 1910.
