    1. our family cat whiskers liked to bask in the sun in the front yard during the evening, i’d come home from work and she’d be laid out sleeping in the grass, hear me coming and run up to greet me and start climbing up my leg. I’d pick her up and carry her in, walk around cradling her for a few minutes giving her her daily “after-work ride” around the house before going on with our day.

She’s gone now, she was 19 and I’m thankful for every day I had with her. It’s hard, she decided I was her favorite and though I tried to avoid it for years she wore me down and made me fall in love with her. She’s burried in our back yard and I have a statue at her grave that acts as her avatar so I can talk to and pet her still.

When I come home and walk by her sun basking spot in the grass I still think about her and say hello sometimes as if she’s still there, and I make it a point to go talk to her and give her a petting when I’m in the back yard.

I was out there working today, i forgot to go say hi. Remind me to do that tomorrow

Enjoy these moments OP, one day they won’t be there when you come home.
