    1. A bit sensational, its pretty mundane structures that it found. Just stepped terraces and plateaus under the ice

Sub: “Huh. There’s some odd ice chunks popping up in front of me in this uncharted and constantly shifting underwater landscape. I hope I don’t hit one.”

Detected strange structures near an ice shelf? Suddenly lost?

Kinda sounds like it just sailed into some collapsing ice shelf. I’d imagine ice falling would give quite the interesting sensor reading. While traveling directly under said ice shelf no less, near it’s center

You can follow links in the article to the actual research paper. The structures they are referring to are the in the ice above the submarine drone, not below it. They are referring to the shapes carved into the ice from being melted by the water as it is melting the ice.

Each run the sub would start the mission by going down to just above the rounded and featureless sea floor and then progress upwards to scan the way the ice is melting.

    5. This title is garbage- the structures they found are ones that don’t match how computers think ive melts. Not structures built by ancients. And the drone wasn’t taken out after seeing cthulu.

Fascinating article about the unusual ways deep ocean currents erode glaciers

Wait till everyone finds out all the alien/nhi e.t presence what have you , is the sun printing out biological wetware to interact with us

This sounds spooky but something that needs to be made very clear is AUVs struggle under ice as a general rule as they have no method of communicating with the OC, and there is currently no way of communicating with them while they’re submerged, they get lost under ice quite a lot

So sensational. the strange structures were water flow carved ice formations, and suddenly lost is more like it just didnt come back one day since it is too deep in the ice to get signals it is autonomous and sent out for 24 hours at a time.

Boy. I see a lot of shitty links on reddit, but that has to be high in the running for worst. You know you are dealing with serious journalism when there are 5 new popups every time you scroll even the slightest bit. My phone couldn’t handle it, the text just went away and it was nothing but ads. Which, I suppose, is what they were going for

Subnautica 2 did just enter early access.
Maybe the biome hasn’t been added yet?
