I’m not in the UK, but as a EU-citizen I‘m already keeping a small amount of Monero (under 100€), just to be on the safe side. Somewhere, someone will accept Monero for VPN services… And once you have some Monero, you can easily buy more Peer-to-Peer, without the government getting wind of it, by using that Monero for escrow on Haveno.

I consider this my key to open certain doors if my government turns full psycho.

Bavaria just introduced a law forcing schools to play two hymns in festive, celebratory fashion at every major school event. One of those hymns has to be the hymn of Bavaria.

I’m honestly glad our prime minister has solved all other problems in our schools, so he can finally focus on improving our bayerischer Patriotismus.

Gday my friends, welcome to China, but like a decade or so ago. Here’s how it’ll go:

At first it’ll be a blacklisting model: bad sites out, everything else is fine. VPN usually works.

Then, Silicon Valley cries about it, invest big on lobbying. Failing which they pull the plug and exit. The government starts targeting big VPN providers, at least those that refuse to work with the government under the table.

Couple years after that, government clamps down on anything VPN, the bans turn into a whitelisting model: good sites are allowed, everything else is shut off. Domestic replacements of Silicon Valley offerings thrive on their almost-monopoly.

This is as far as we’ve gone. Can’t wait for the next stage of our little dystopia! You guys will catch up in no time!
