Someone posted this photo of my Grandpa on this sub claiming he was their uncle. NO idea how they obtained the picture as it’s currently sitting under glass on my Grandma’s makeup table. Anyways, here’s Papa c. late 1950s! He’s the best.

    1. That just means you have a cousin on Reddit that also has a copy of that photo.

I’ve been noticing there are entire accounts on this sub that are just entirely fake. They’ll post a pic like “my grandpa in 1976!” And then I look thru their history and theres like 100 other pics titled “my grandpa in 1921!” or “my grandpa in 1888”

So weird. And I presume they steal all these pictures, make it seem like the pics are their own, and then rack up the sweet delicious karma nectars

    3. I had someone else post a photo of my grandmother that I’d originally posted a year or more beforehand, also claiming it to be their grandmother.

      Karma farming bots.

This is so weird. How would they have obtained the photo…

Wouldn’t it be something if this was a stock magazine clipping that a bunch of ladies claimed was their SO!?

    5. I have often thought of posting family pictures here, interesting ones. But having a bot account from south east asia steal it to farm karma to sell the account to an onlyfans model repulses me.

Maybe I’ll add a watermark, but it spoils the thing a bit

I had someone post a picture of my cat that I took in 2022. No idea how they got it either. Obviously for karma i guess, but….what is the point in getting karma in the first place?

Unfortunately the sub is full of bots. But the photo had to be on the web, like facebook, at some point. A bot can’t enter your home, scan the photo and put it on the web.

It’s the same pic! Who’s the real relative? How about a side by side either a more recent pic? Or a pic of it in the frame on the desk?
