Im assuming it was a random scramble but to my non-cubing eye, it looked half solved to begin with

Shit was already halfway solved, now give him one that’s been mixed up properly.

Someone showed me how to rotate the corners back in high school (24 years ago) and I always remembered that one move. I finally put in the time to figure the rest of it out and it took like three weeks working on it like 4 hours a day… I spent so much of my free time working it out, and I finally got it! It still takes me like 5 minutes to solve it…

These kids are so damn impressive.

My son woke up at 3 am one day and wouldn’t go back to sleep. I put a movie on and messed with a Rubik’s cube for the first time in my life for hours. My wife woke up at 8 and I had one side a solid color and I asked her hey what’s the trick to these things? She says there’s a pattern you have to do and did a couple spins maybe 5 and handed it back to me. I spun it 2 more times randomly and it was solved. We laughed pretty hard

    5. I couldn’t do it that fast even if you told me how to do it.

      “What was step 3 again?”

    6. I was so confused. I thought he had started when he picked it up to look at it then put it down cos he was stuck. Then figured it out.

Dumb question. Is the possibility of completing a Rubik cube the quickest based kind of on luck? Like if the random configuration of the cube has certain parts already completed wouldn’t it be a better chance of beating a record? Like at one point, won’t a random cube be further enough along that itll only take a few moves to finish?

Not sure the procedure of these competitions

Edit: rewatching the video it looks like the cube has both blue and orange almost totally complete
