my grandma and her siblings, cousins as well being confirmed at St Anne’s Indian Residential school. In her notes, she referred to it as “Alcatraz North”. This was in 1963. During the 60s scoop and residential school era. She actually had written a book about her experience being forcibly removed from her home and surviving the rampant abuse in St Anne’s. the government would go onto spend 3 million in legal fees against the survivors of St Anne’s. She led a very successful life afterwards as an addiction counsellor.

I’m so sorry your grandma and other relatives (and anyone else) had to experience this horror. She must have been very resilient to be so successful in adulthood.
