Imagine looking straight up through your canopy and seeing the underside of the other plane. If you pull the handle you’re going to be slammed into it, and you have to pull the handle. So you wait a bit and hope the planes separate so you can get out. Lucky lucky lucky.

How can air shows be profitable ? Each one of these accidents costs hundreds of millions of dollars, and they seem to happen all the time.

Man, Mountain Home AFB has a bad rap for air show crashes. There was a Thunderbird that lawn darted there in 2003. I was there for that one.
