Context. Childabert was a Merovingian king who’s father was assassinated when he was 5. His mother took a crash course on court intrigue to get into and then rule his court during his minority. When he matured he mostly left the politicing to his mother who had all of the connections and know how while he focused on being a good military leader. Something in this relationship spoiled by the time his mother Brunhild had to raise childeberts children after his own death.
This was in the 6th century
