More like the Romans were too stubborn to take the hints Neptune was giving them and won because of that

The story is bull though; the Romans had an entire class of subjects (‘allies’) called the *socii navales* which provided ships for the Roman war effort.
Sure, maybe the Romans had no institutional navy. But they certainly didn’t copy a washed up ship

More Rome glazing.
Everyone else is barbarian, only Rome is good and mighty
-_-
truly impressive ocean going people are those who braved the pacific ocean and hopped between islands far and wide apart. The Norsemen who made boats that could go both on sea and on shallow rivers.
In the future I fear people will glaze the US as much as they adore Rome now.
“Oh lol we have global strike capabilities” *ignores all the allies*
Rome did some good things like aquaducts, but I sometimes wonder if it was worth the death and insane amounts of slavery, displacement and destruction of culture, which they of course write down as barbaric and dumb.

The story was propaganda to make romans look like prodigies.
The corvus itself sunk more romans than it saved and was abandoned.
Rowing and maneuvering was still a big factor which what’s the point of a ladder if you can’t get into position quick.
The Romans downplayed themselves to make themselves look even more smart.
