The Walking Truck or Pedipulator was an experimental quadruped walking vehicle created in 1965 by General ElectricIt was intended for use by the United States Army and was designed by Ralph Mosher as a way to transport equipment over rough terrain.

(Yes this thing was probably meant to work in Vietnam or if it did see actual success would have)

Concepts done 1962, test Pedipulator demonstrated in 1964. It was never completed however a Dr Peter version was actually put forward and later accepted…..but uh….

Only one prototype of the Walking Truck was produced, which weighed about 3000 lb and failed to reach speeds greater than 5 mph. It alternatively bore the name CAM, an acronym for Cybernetic Anthropomorphous Machine

      Yeah… It’s a fun little history bit

It’s on display at the Army Transportation Museum, Fort Eustis, VA

Seen it in person. It’s not as big as the drawing portrays

Not even the silliest cold war era prototype/proposal. That probably goes to the nuclear powered tank.
