As a dad I find this creepy as shit.ย  I trust my daughter to make good decisions about who she dates.ย  So far all her boyfriends have been adorable gentlemen.ย ย

      Toxic masculinity is fucking gnarly.

Support biblical marriage: Because your daughter is worth AT LEAST 5 sheep AND a cow.

Dad’s when you mention a girl: (turns to point the gun at you) YOU HAD BETTER TREAT HER RIGHT

    4. Never got this. I was defensive of my sister. But only when our mutual friends told me it was a bad guy. She got upset once because I ran one off and she said โ€œwhat if I started dating Kenโ€ (our mutual friend). I said โ€œgreat, Iโ€™d be happy, good dudeโ€.

My mum absolutely hated all girls I brought home.

Dad on the other hand smiled from ear to ear because it was a reminder to him I was not gay.

      Weird parenting style they had.

My dad used to react like this towards my sisters boyfriends but to be fair she was like 14-17 dragging home dudes 25+. Once she turned 25 herself and brought home normal dudes of similar age he was a different guy.

I hope Iโ€™m never a dad like that if I have a daughter. None of the women Iโ€™ve dated have had fathers like that, theyโ€™ve all been great to me right off the bat. My now father in law has always been lovely and always treated me like a son.

I still find it disturbing how the “farther threatens to kill boy” trope has become such common place.

Trust and believe that the same can go for mothers and their sons ๐Ÿ˜†

      Speaking from personal experience.

    10. As a man myself I’ve never understood this behaviour. Got to give people a chance.

Reminds me of how my dad was sitting on the couch shining a pistol the first time I brought a guy home. I was quick to point out that it was only a replica, so of course he had to go on an “I don’t need a gun” rant, lol.

Do we understand when women choose the bear? Or do we NOT understand when women choose the bear?

Reddit smacked it’s head on the 1950s table this morning, I see.ย

Wrong. And I’ll tell you why. No girl is good enough for a mothers son. That’s how many mothers think. So no, she wouldn’t make that happy face.

    15. You canโ€™t protect your kid forever. Raise them to respect themselves enough to not put up with a toxic / abusive partner. Then make sure they have someone they can go to when they donโ€™t know what to do. That way they will filter out the losers themselves and come to you or someone you trust for advice if they start to feel something going wrong.

    16. My one ex’s Dad just didn’t talk to me the first time I met her family. Sitting in the living room, I looked behind me and the Dad(John) was carrying a revolver. He smacked me on the back and took me to his pistol range. He fired and hit all but one. He loaded the pistol and I knew it was a .357 magnum and he was definitely shooting .38. He handed me the gun and of course he put a mix of .357 and .38. I hit four targets anyway. We got along well after that. Strange fella but I kinda want to be him.

I love how my uncle goes about meeting my cousin’s boyfriends. He always gets his machete out to open coconuts and likes to wave it near the guys lol.

This ainโ€™t that common no more ya see sir. Dem
Youngens just flush the baby down the Turlet these days.

So no fueden and a fussing from da parents.

Used to be you raise the kid, provide for it, and try to endure life as a young married couple.

    19. A Dad in my hometown did the whole “cleaning my gun while I talk about intentions with my daughter” bit. Caught a menacing and minor endangerment charge. Kids dad was a attorney.

The funny part. The kid basically said “fuck this I’m not even gonna date her” and the girl(daughter) threw such a fit, the story caught administrations attention.
