While I would love to say alot of things about the eviks of Communism as I would usually do.

How the hell did NK have enough Industry to sell and support any ailled states or paramilitaries? Asking mostly because I am surprised they didn’t keep any for themselves.

If China had commit to a full scale invasion of Vietnam rather than a short war, it would be Vietnam War 2.0 for the Chinese army, and probably faced world wide condemnation and international pressure.

    3. Blaming CIA for every dictator ever except the ones usa was in open conflict with(even then sometimes it’s usa fault) is standard reddit stuff.

Just saying with the khmer rogue being so brutal and insane along with munch southeast asia during that, that the communist dictatorship of vietnam, look like the least evil and most sane.

(Granted red vietnam also did some red terror as in kill and purge people who look a little too rich and not bowing down)

The US didn’t “take the blame.” China’s support of the Khmer Rouge was open and well-known at the time. Blaming the US for it became a thing critics of US foreign policy started to do much later.

Didn’t the US only back Pol Pot after he had been deposed by Vietnam because the west saw the Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia as a violation of their sovereignty? To my knowledge one of the reasons Pol Pot rose ro power in the first place was because the bombings by US made the pro-west goverment (who had just couped the monarchy) really unpopular so people joined Pol Pot’s counter-revolution.

    8. The only guilty people in the tragedy that was Pol Pot’s regime is the people of Cambodia. It isn’t China’s or America’s responsability to save the Cambodians from the terrible leaders they chose.

    9. “I encouraged the Chinese to support Pol Pot. Pol Pot was an abomination. We could never support him, but China could.” – Zbigniew Brzezinski. Neither US nor China wanted a pro Soviet Vietnam

    10. Don’t forget that North Vietnam directly aided and fought alongside Pol Pot’s forces. People often only remember that Vietnam ousted Pol Pot in 1979 after Cambodia began attacking Vietnam, forgetting that they directly helped him get to power not even a decade prior.

It’s mostly because the US supported the Khmer Rouge until the early 90’s, long after their reign of terror was well known.
