It can be argued that The Boys have gone downhill since the season 3 finale. Everything was fine until that final S3 episode. Season 4 was a mess, and season 5 has been a disappointment, as well as just one big ad for the upcoming spinoff.

I’m not a TV writer, so maybe my opinion on the matter isn’t terribly valuable, but I don’t think it should be this hard to stick the landing. You know there’s a particular ending your fanbase wants. Just give them that.

I think the hate feels a little bit over blown. I can understand why people are unhappy with the season, but people always try and compare their shows ending to something like Game of Thrones.
I agree that the current season is nothing like the peak of the show in season 1-3, it’s still not that bad. It feels a lot like the uproar around stranger things. I think you can be unhappy with the direction without overblowing it.
There are few shows that I think match the incompetence of Game of Thrones season 8. The boys definitely doesn’t fit that.
