Nothing scarier than posting a harmless question and summoning three angry hobby experts

or “jUst gOoGle iT” kind of people, really if I’d be able to choose between googling something and dealing with Reddit I’d take a first option but google isn’t always helpful

Yup, asked a hypothetical question about tax evasion for American law and got made fun of for not knowing how American law works for tax evasion as someone whose not an American that practices law

It is kinda their fault for not being born knowing everything there is to know about everything.

    5. Even worse when they’re like “Why didn’t you just google this?”

Gee, I dunno, maybe I wanted to talk out my problem with an actual person with thoughts and emotions. Maybe I’ll have followup questions. Maybe search engines are becoming increasingly unreliable anyways and the best, most useful answers from those web searches come from *this site* anyways.

    6. I wanted to learn how to play poker today and I was unsure to how All In works, so I looked up if someone had already asked a similar question on r poker. The first reply was basically “I’m not gonna do consultation work for free, if you’re willing to pay I’ll explain.”

This is why I SPECIFICALLY mention on my posts that I’m open to questions now😭

To be fair, sometimes the question is something like “Hi, I’m new to Reddit, and I don’t really know where to ask, but I don’t know where else to get this information. What’s 7 + 9? Sorry for my bad english.” Seriously, for the love of god, Google it before you post it.

    9. I once asked r/food or r/cooking if bottled fruit wash was worth it or a scam and you’d have thought I suggested everyone wash their food in nuclear waste.

“What did that person just ask”….

    11. I recently got told how to spoiler my text on reddit. They aren’t that bad me thinks.

If I see another “I need anime streaming sites” or “anime recommendations” posts I think I’m going to have an aneurysm.

    13. Yo fr this fucking place is the only place where you’ll get downvoted for asking a simple question about the topic at hand.

    14. AlexandersWonder on

I’m sorry, I don’t understand your question. Try to be more concise and to the point next time. K thx

    15. Felt that way asking about how to fix my condos front door gap since I asked my husband so many times and he said he didn’t want to fix..

Shit load of chuds saying why don’t I learn and fix it myself…. IDFK because I posted asking for help to fix it myself?!

    16. To feel more at home, I have trained my AI to have the usual toxic Redditor reply when he talks to me.

“Yikes, the fact that you even had to ask this says everything. Maybe try Google before broadcasting your skill issue to the whole internet.”

    17. New hermit crab owners vs [r/hermitcrabs](r/hermitcrabs)

Like yeah, obviously don’t mistreat animals, but your hermit crab also isn’t legally required to live in a miniaturized Palace of Versailles

Why is googling something suddenly an insult when you think some random redditor has all the answers?

    20. The problem is that Google is much faster. The reddit search function is faster. The energy spent typing the question into a post could be spent getting that information yourself. Reddit isn’t your personal chatbot

    21. Or they don’t get any response and needlessly downvoted just for asking a question.

    22. Puzzled-Secret-317 on

Just to check, you aren’t implying that you aren’t a redditor right? Not with your karma count

    23. chocolatchipcookie2 on

you dont post a question. you post a wrong statement and let them correct you. thats how reddit works

    24. Unless you go to r/KerbalSpaceProgram

Seriously you can ask the dumbest question and people just… answer you.

    25. Hayernator2207 on
