Calling it a “Part-Time Civil War” is appropriate. There’s a reason we settled on “The Troubles” as a euphemism to describe it, as it was an unusual mix of guerilla warfare, terrorism, and political maneuvering.

    2. Is “the troubles weren’t” or “wasnt”? Not my native language.

Straight up massacres. Bloody Sunday is a day when I pray for those souls. The Troubles were brutal than most people outside of Ireland and the UK understand.

Honestly, I hear about that stuff a decent amount.

The part I hear no one talk about is the Ulster Volunteers. Pro UK, anti-catholic terrorists that threw petrol bombs at schools, car bombed Dublin, and were generally massive sacks of shit.

    5. Anytime someone mentions the Troubles I always think of the Time of Troubles in Russia and sit really confused for a second until I realize they’re talking about Ireland

    6. People here are also missing the covering up of the Miami show band massacre and the crossmaglen massacre.

There is more than enough evidence to link the British state to collusion with armed paramilitary unionists in the north of Ireland.

If you want evidence of this, there was a very good netflix documentary, no doubt available on the high seas, called the Miami showband massacre.

Additionally, no stone unturned, is harrowing and a true insight into what British intelligence allowed to occur, to protect their interests/assets, active in the country.

Look at agent stakeknife, they allowed him to kill, to maintain his cover as a mole.

The crossmaglen gang should burn in hell for the lives they murdered with gleeful abandon.

The term: “The troubles”; was coined to by the British media to avoid the acknowledgement of internment, violent and cruel miatreatment, while domestically popular sentiment of the Anglo-Irish war grew, which was in reality a happening situation on the ground.

Before anyone wants to argue, I studied the protestant ascendancy for qualification (1800-1900) and am from Ireland.

I accept a lot of British people get fed a narrative, but my family crossed the Irish sea, to your signs of:

      “No blacks, no Dogs, no Irish”;

      Not even two generations ago.

The British people owe a great deal to the Irish.

We fought in your wars when you collapsed our economy, when you gave us no choice.

There was only the king’s coin, or Jacobs biscuit factory, or the follies, which scatter our land.

You furthered the famine with your political/economic actions, continuing to export foodstuffs for profit, over saving the starving masses.

We built your canals and railways, in promise for rent, board and food.

We have always been looked down upon, by those that fear a culture more deep, rich and ancient, than what yours has become.

“Our victory, shall be the laughter of our children”

I hope one day, the wrongs can be righted and the wrong undone, but Cameron apologising and the current administration allowing the suspension of prosecutions for warcrimes commited here.

      That I will not abide.

Low-intensity conflicts are still conflicts. People seem to forget that part.

I guess there wasn’t a clear declaration of war or battle lines.

I’d 102% call it an insurgency though.
