Margot Kidder, Canadian cool before Hollywood turned her into Lois Lane, 1970s

Most people remember Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, but that shorthand sells her short. She was a Yellowknife-born Canadian who bounced around remote parts of the country as a kid, broke through in Canadian film and television before Hollywood noticed, starred for Brian De Palma in *Sisters*, helped make *The Amityville Horror* a cultural fixture, and later became a blunt political and environmental activist. Decades after *Superman*, she even won a Daytime Emmy for a creepy little turn on *R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour*. She died on May 13, 2018, which is what sent me digging through these today.
