Is that even legal under American standards at the time? Yes, a lot of Americans were homophobic, but there’s no way they had capital punishment for it (Before I get downvoted into oblivion and get death threats, I am simply inquiring on the matter, I am aware that I may possibly be wrong)

Wait was homosexuality illegal in post WWII Germany?

Fun fact: You know all of those stories about Jews being taken in or hidden by others in order to escape the Holocaust? There are no recorded accounts of a straight, cis person doing this for an LGBT person in the entire history of the Holocaust. Of the LGBT people arrested during the Holocaust, [around 1/3 were turned in by their own friends and family.](https://www.them.us/story/lgbtq-holocaust-history-facts-illinois-museum-concentration-camps)

Extra weird when you consider one of the first openly gay politicians was a high ranking Nazi party member.

Something like 95% of gay men arrested in Nazi Germany were not sent to concentration camps, but regular prisons. To make it more complicated, those sent to concentration camps also included child molesters and pedophiles under the same category.
Obviously it was still wrong, but their treatment was not very similar to that of Jews, and in my view shouldn’t even be described as part of the Holocaust, which to most people implies extermination.
