A recent study by the German Federal Institute of Public Health found massive changes among young Germans regarding their first experience with sex and kissing within just 6 years. These numbers include males and females, but only heterosexual experiences.

Why is 2025 shown before 2019 on the graph?
2025 being the left bar and 2019 being the right bar feels backwards and makes this harder to interpret IMO
Do the numbers mean that is how many people are or are not virgins?
Or they are just all gay now.
Edit: Since I’m getting downvoted, I assume people missed the note from OP that it only includes heterosexual experiences.
how do the numbers go down? 96% of 24 year olds have had a kiss, but only 92% of 25 year olds?
Social media and AI will be the death of our species
Sorry about my inability to read German, but why do some of the numbers go down as age increases?
This would be great for r/dataisinteresting but beautiful it is not
Anyone else find this quite sad? My old millenial heart wishes gen Z had a youth without a pandemic and too much social media.
So 40% are virgins at age 20 as opposed to 18% six years ago?
One less thing to worry about my kids.
Shit! You mean it grows back?! (Title could have been worded differently…)
I think the important take away here is that if you haven’t had sex by 18, don’t plan on it happening until your 19. That’s such an odd pause.
If you are a student in data visualisation, stay in school.
There must be an easier way to display this…
Seems like they’re waiting for 21 to drink and to fuck. I guess that’s makes sense?
German Incels…watch out!
Surely people tell the truth on the first question
What a bunch of prudes. Thats what happens when kids stop socializing. No parties, no get togethers, no fun. Hey, lets go to Starbucks, act like assholes, and post it to insta! For fucks sake. I’d rather not let them breed.
somebody check this dudes hard drive
Kind of makes no sense that less 25 year olds reported having kissed someone than 19-24 year olds did, in 2019
Now show the stats by gender. Watch at the male population.
How are we defining ‘experience with sex’ here?
Is there a /statisticsgore ?
This is data is ugly as fuck
Statistics is funny. 18 year olds in this data set are 5% less likely to be experienced with kissing than 17 year olds
What the fuck is this graph
That’s a pretty huge change in just 6 years
I’m one of the 4%. what price do I get?
I notice they don’t split it between gender.
They should have divided it by gender as well. I would bet you would see divergent results.
You’re telling me that 3% of people that were 19 in 2019 lost their kissing experience by 25 in 2025?
