The etymology of the Roman “Hispania” remains controversial. But some account it’s origin to the Phoenician [term](https://www.understandinganimalresearch.org.uk/news/rabbits-fish-and-mice-but-no-rock-hyrax/), “i-shphan-im.” Meaning “land of hyraxes.”
