So, Ive heard the HOA horror stories and that sucks. But you know what else sucks? Living next to an abandoned, partially collapsed, mold infested home. That’s my situation at the moment. I don’t want somebody to tell me my mail box is the wrong color, but I would like someone to enforce basic maintenance.

I pay the tax and tolerate the HOA because I want my kids to go to good schools. Now that they’re growing up, I’m ready to get as far from the city as I can. I don’t like being told what I can and can’t do on my property. But I also see why some people need rules to keep them from making living in close proximity a nightmare.
I can do my job from anywhere. So as long as I can get to the city to see my grandkids someday, I’m good.
