    1. BTW, to make it more interesting: That little piece it left behind is an algae cell. Some species eat the algae, but instead of digesting it, they just keep them around. This way, they get some of the sugars the algae produce through photosynthesis, and the algae gets protected, as it’s harder to eat them if they are inside another cell. It’s called endosymbiosis.
