    1. Btw., in that Nazi propaganda movie, Frederick the Great is always referred to as “King of Prussia” even though that wasn’t his title until 1772, and his actual title during the setting of the movie (Seven Years’ War) was “King in Prussia”. It’s almost like Nazis don’t care about historical accuracy, smh.

Nazi Germany had one of the most effective propaganda machine during the war to the extent that it brainwash its people to support its ideology and the war

The Old. The Young. The Weak.

All pressed ganged into the Volkstrumm because Hitler was both that delusional and desperate. Throwing his own countrymen into the slaughter.

The kid on the bottom would later go on to become a communist…. ironic

I remember watching a West German Film on YouTube called “The Bridge” about a group of Young Hitler Youth Conscripts forced to defend a bridge on the last few days of the Battle of Berlin.

All of them just wanting to go home to their parents and just want to surrender to the Americans.

      It’s kinda heartbreaking.

      Come on it’s 1942.
The Caucasus offensive will defeat the Soviets once and for all. No children will have to fight.
I got a good feeling especially the 6. Army will seal the deal.

The difference is Frederick would fight on the front lines and was the lion of Prussia.

My grandfather often told us about the last days of the war in the Netherlands. He remembered a young German soldier literally crying for his mother whilst taking fire. How he told it was comical, yet heartbreaking.

    9. Many crimes committed the Nazis, but one that’s not often highlighted is the insane suffering caused by continuing a war that was lost long ago, causing unnecessary pain in both sides.

    10. Women shouldn’t be in war, either. Or men, or grown-ups, or the elderly, or the disabled, or jugglers, or squirrels, or any damn body.

    11. The propaganda is technically correct. 19th century Prussia was morally superior to Nazi Germany.

Not to defend the Nazis, but our own propaganda does the exact same thing. The reality is we all send boys to war, we might call them men but most of them are really kids who know nothing of the world.

1942 is the year they stopped being secretive about militarizing children too. They launched the “Wehrertüchtigungslager”, camps training 16 year old children in the use of weapons. Jojo Rabbit show a satirical look at one of these camps in 1944.

Also ironic how they deified Frederick, who was gay and tolerared Jews and Catholics.

That boy’s face is heartbreaking, in his vest that’s too big for him, having barely lived and sent to die far away from the comfort of his family and friends. It cuts deep.

Always makes me think of jojo rabbit. They had the paper uniforms and everything on that one jojos friend towards the end

    17. Also kind of wild that they’re valorizing Frederick the Great when among other things I believe Frederick emancipated the Jews.
